Luis calls this his “mosaic wine” – the wine that’s created from the myriad tiny plots of high-altitude, old-vine Tempranillo the winery owns in around the villages of Labastida, Lanciego and Cripán. More concentration than the Crianza, and the same time in oak, but this time almost all French oak, and 50% new barriques. Aromatic on the nose, with violets and vanilla to the fore. Very fresh and clean on the palate; more complexity, and with a noticeable tannins and good acidity. The oak is elegant and restrained, with the fruit still dominating.
